Artist-in-Residence Program

Artist-in-Residence Program

Students, ages 13 to 18, who are recipients of a “Wings to Fly” scholarship, participate in after-school enrichment classes.  One of these programs is our “Arte Mixta” course, coordinated by Ron Stock. Ron, along with visiting artists, teach a variety of mixed-media classes.

Students in the “Arte Mixta” course learn drawing, painting with acrylics and watercolors, sculpture, paper mache, and other mediums. At the end of each season, the students organize their own art exhibition open to the public.

Dave Sullins Memorial Art Fund

The Dave Sullins Memorial Art Fund was established in 2017.  Its aim is to provide diverse art materials for the La Catalina Scholarship Student’s “Arte Mixta”. Dave, a gifted storyteller and fine artist from Taos, New Mexico, was the Drawing and Design instructor for the first two years of the program, before his sudden and unexpected passing in 2016. Dave's unique personal teaching style established the fundamental groundwork for much of our student's artistic successes.

The Dave Sullins Memorial Art Fund is managed by Ron Stock. To make a donation or donate art materials, please email Ron at: stockontheroad@yahoo.com
